This database controls how tokiponized proper names are rendered as cartouches across renderer pages. When the renderer finds a capitalised name sequence that matches an entry here, it uses the flags below to decide what to do.

Flags

• @db — Appears for entries that need an explicit database override. This includes entries with a nanpa-linja-n numeric part, and entries whose separate words or merged form would otherwise be read as ordinary toki pona words. When the @db flag is enabled here, the renderer will only use the saved database cartouche when the matching input also uses the @db suffix.
• Merge — Controls how non-numeric words are grouped. When on, non-numeric words are combined into one cartouche. When off, each non-numeric word gets its own cartouche. Numeric nanpa-linja-n parts are always kept as one cartouche. When words are merged, final n is only dropped where needed to avoid nn or nm; other n+consonant joins are kept.
• Mode — Controls what kind of cartouche is used: random = generated automatically from the letters; preferred = use the cartouche saved with ✏ edit; literal = use your own Unicode text inside a literal cartouche; ignore = skip this database entry and let the renderer handle the name normally.

Examples

• Sema Pan with Merge on → one cartouche for Sema Pan.
• Sema Pan with Merge off → one cartouche for Sema and one for Pan.
• Towasi in random mode → an automatic glyph cartouche is generated and it may change on each rendering of the cartouche.
• Towasi in preferred mode → your saved glyph cartouche is used.
• Towasi in literal mode, any literal text can be entered (double quotes are removed). With literal text ABC → the renderer will process input ["ABC"]. How that appears depends on how the selected sitelen pona font renders Latin text inside a cartouche.
• Towasi in ignore mode → this database entry is skipped and the renderer handles the name as normal input.
• Sin Pin with Merge on → the merged form is sinpin, which is an ordinary toki pona word. In that case the database override only applies when the entry has @db enabled and the input uses Sinpin@db.
• Sin Pin with Merge off → the words stay separate, so Sinpin@db does not match that record.
• Nenen@db — for a proper name that matches a nanpa-linja-n numeric cartouche proper name, @db lets you use the saved database override instead of normal numeric rendering. The @db flag must be enabled here, and the @db suffix must also be used when rendering.
• Sema Pan Neninimen → Sema Pan uses the database entry, while Neninimen renders as a numeric cartouche (since it is a nanpa-linja-n numeric cartouche proper name).
• Sema Pan Neninimen@db → same as above, but the numeric part also uses the saved database cartouche, if @db is enabled for that entry.
